Pedestrian Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at Rte 1 & Ashcake Rd

Ashland, VA (October 23, 2025) – A pedestrian was injured Wednesday morning after being struck during a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Route 1 (South Washington Hwy) and Ashcake Rd in Hanover County.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, October 22, around 8:35 a.m. Ashland Police and Hanover Fire/EMS responded quickly to the scene. Officers confirmed that two vehicles were involved and that a pedestrian had been struck. Medics provided immediate on-site care before transporting the individual to a nearby hospital. Authorities reported the injuries were non-life-threatening.

We extend our sincere wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured pedestrian and commend the first responders for their swift actions and professional care.

Pedestrian Accidents in Ashland

Pedestrian accidents in Ashland and Hanover County remain a serious safety concern. Collisions often occur at intersections, crosswalks, or areas with high traffic volume. Even low-speed impacts can result in broken bones, head injuries, or internal trauma due to the vulnerability of pedestrians compared to vehicle occupants.

Common causes include distracted driving, failure to yield, speeding, and pedestrians crossing outside designated areas. Road design, visibility issues, and weather conditions can also increase the likelihood of pedestrian-involved collisions. Accidents involving pedestrians often require immediate medical attention, and victims may face significant recovery time and medical expenses.

Victims of pedestrian accidents may be eligible for compensation if another party’s negligence contributed to the crash. This can include reimbursement for medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages. Personal injury attorneys help accident victims gather evidence, navigate insurance claims, and ensure responsible parties are held accountable. Legal guidance is particularly important in pedestrian cases, as insurance companies may try to minimize payouts or assign partial blame to the victim.
