Greensville Co, VA (May 21, 2025) – An 80-year-old man from Emporia tragically died in a crash with a logging truck on Monday morning.
The deadly accident occurred at 11:39 a.m. at Brink Rd and Fountain Creek Rd. Virginia State Police said a 2007 International logging truck was heading west on Brink Rd. As the truck slowed to turn onto Fountain Creek Rd, a 1997 GMC Sonoma rear-ended it.
The driver of the Sonoma, Phillip Lewis Brown of Emporia, failed to slow down in time. When his vehicle struck the truck, the heavy logs shifted forward. Several logs broke through Brown’s windshield, killing him instantly. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
