Officials have not yet released details about the severity of the injuries. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the sedan striking the guardrail.
We extend our best wishes for recovery to the injured family, especially the infant.
Car Accidents in Norfolk
Car accidents are a leading cause of injuries in Norfolk and throughout Virginia. Heavily traveled highways, such as I-264, often see serious collisions that involve multiple victims. When children or infants are hurt, these accidents become even more devastating for families.
Many crashes occur because of speeding, distracted driving, or fatigue. On busy highways, even a brief mistake can cause a driver to lose control and strike another vehicle or fixed object. In cases like Sunday’s crash, hitting a guardrail can still result in serious injuries for passengers, especially young children.
Virginia crash data shows that thousands of people are injured each year in traffic accidents. Among these victims, children are particularly vulnerable. Infants and toddlers require proper car seats and restraints, but even with safety equipment, the force of a collision can still cause harm.
Victims of car accidents often face high medical costs, missed work, and long-term recovery challenges. Families may not know where to turn after a sudden crash. A personal injury attorney can help them understand their rights and pursue compensation from those responsible. This compensation can cover hospital bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and future care needs.
Investigations play an important role in these cases. Attorneys often examine police reports, vehicle damage, and road conditions to determine what caused the accident. In crashes involving infants, they may also review whether safety restraints were properly installed and whether a manufacturer defect contributed.
Norfolk’s busy roadways mean that drivers must remain alert and cautious at all times. Staying focused, obeying speed limits, and keeping a safe distance can prevent serious collisions. Still, accidents happen even when families take every safety measure possible.
