Injuries Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash at W Franklin St & Monument Ave

Richmond, VA (November 20, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash injured at least one person, including a two-year-old child, early Wednesday, November 19, near W Franklin St and Monument Ave in Richmond’s Fan District.

Richmond City Fire and Rescue arrived around 5:22 a.m. after reports of a collision involving a black Nissan and a black Toyota. Crews checked both vehicles and provided immediate care. Dispatch audio confirmed that a young child needed medical attention at the scene.

Paramedics took the child to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Officials have not shared details about the child’s injuries. The condition of the other people involved remains unknown.

Witnesses said the crash happened in a busy part of the Fan District. The area sees steady residential and commercial traffic in the early morning hours. Emergency teams stayed at the scene while they cleared the damaged vehicles and checked for any additional hazards.

Richmond Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Officers have not said whether they expect to issue any charges or citations.

We send our sincere hopes for healing to everyone hurt in this crash.

Car Accidents in Richmond

Car crashes in Richmond happen for many reasons, and even a small mistake can lead to serious injuries. Busy neighborhoods like the Fan District see steady traffic at all hours. Drivers heading to work, school, or nearby businesses often share tight streets with pedestrians and cyclists. When an accident occurs in these areas, injuries can happen quickly, especially when young children are involved.

Many crashes in Richmond happen early in the morning when drivers may still feel tired. Low light can make it harder to see other vehicles or judge speed and distance. A moment of distraction, such as checking a phone or adjusting the radio, can lead to a crash that affects multiple people. When children are in the car, the force of an impact can lead to injuries even when proper restraints are used.

Parents often face difficult moments after crashes involving young children. Doctors may want extended evaluations to check for hidden injuries. Even when a child appears alert, they may still need scans or follow-up visits. Families often feel overwhelmed by medical decisions, insurance questions, and the stress of the incident.

A personal injury lawyer can help families sort through these issues. An experienced attorney can review police reports, speak with witnesses, and gather medical information. They can also communicate with insurance companies to make sure victims get fair compensation. Injured people may receive money for medical bills, follow-up care, lost income, and the emotional stress of the crash. When a child is hurt, these costs can grow over time. Legal support can give families space to focus on recovery.

Car accidents in Richmond continue to be a concern for many residents. Drivers should stay alert, slow down in mixed-use areas, and watch for cross traffic at busy intersections like W Franklin St and Monument Ave. Even with safe habits, crashes still happen, and injured people deserve help.
