Richmond, VA – Injury Crash on N 18th St in Upper Shockoe Vly

Richmond, VA - Victims Hurt in Accident on Forest Hill Ave near Gravel Hill Rd

Richmond, VA (July 8, 2025) – A vehicle crash early Sunday morning, July 5, in Richmond’s Upper Shockoe Valley left at least one person hurt.

The collision happened around 2:26 a.m. in the 400 block of North 18th Street. Local police, fire crews, and EMS quickly responded to the scene to assist those injured.

Emergency medical teams treated at least one person on site. Officials have not confirmed the exact number of people hurt or the extent of their injuries. Authorities remained on scene for some time to investigate and make the area safe.

The crash occurred in a part of the city close to Broad St and I-95, where overnight traffic can still be steady. The Richmond Police Department continues to investigate what led to the collision.

We send our warmest wishes for healing and recovery to everyone impacted by this accident.

Vehicle Collisions in Richmond’s Upper Shockoe Valley

Upper Shockoe Valley sits near downtown Richmond and is a hub of activity, especially around major roads like Broad St and I-95. With both vehicle and pedestrian movement continuing through late hours, this area is no stranger to accidents. Crashes here often occur in the early morning when visibility is low and driver alertness may be reduced.

Car accidents during these hours are commonly linked to speeding, fatigue, and impaired driving. Drivers leaving social events or night shifts may not be fully focused. In some cases, alcohol plays a role. While the streets may be quieter at night, the risk of high-impact collisions remains real. A crash at that time can leave victims with serious injuries requiring immediate care.

Even minor injuries can lead to long-term challenges. Victims may need to miss work, pay out-of-pocket for treatment, or suffer ongoing pain. That’s why knowing your legal rights after a crash is so important. In Virginia, injured individuals may be entitled to compensation if another driver’s carelessness caused the crash. This can include coverage for medical costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and future medical needs.

Virginia’s contributory negligence rule makes accident cases more complex. If an injured person is found even slightly at fault, they might not receive any compensation. This is why having a skilled personal injury attorney is key. A lawyer can gather evidence, speak with witnesses, and work with experts to build a strong case.

Legal help also provides peace of mind during recovery. Instead of battling with insurance companies or tracking down documents, victims can focus on healing while their legal team fights for justice. Many law firms offer free consultations and only charge fees if they win the case.

If you or someone you care about was hurt in a crash in Richmond or anywhere in Virginia, don’t wait to get help. Call Need an Injury Lawyer Virginia at 1-800-000-1111 today for a free consultation.
