Interstate Crashes in Richmond
Interstate highways around Richmond are some of the busiest in Virginia, and with heavy traffic comes a higher risk of crashes. I-64 is a major route that connects local drivers, commuters, and travelers passing through the city. Merging traffic, sudden lane changes, and higher speeds often combine to create dangerous situations, especially near downtown exits.
Rear-end collisions and side-impact crashes are common in these areas because drivers are often moving between lanes at different speeds. Even a small mistake, such as failing to check a blind spot or braking too late, can cause a serious accident. When cars collide at highway speeds, the impact can leave drivers and passengers with painful injuries such as whiplash, back strain, broken bones, or head trauma.
These injuries may not always seem severe at first. For example, back pain after a crash can worsen in the hours or days that follow. This is why it is important for anyone involved in a crash to seek medical care right away. Quick treatment not only protects health but also creates a medical record that can support a future injury claim.
Victims of interstate crashes in Richmond may also face financial stress. Medical bills, time away from work, and vehicle repairs can quickly add up. In these situations, an experienced personal injury lawyer can make a significant difference. An attorney can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and work with insurance companies to seek fair compensation. Depending on the case, victims may be able to recover damages for hospital bills, physical therapy, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
Crash investigations often look at factors such as speeding, distracted driving, or driver fatigue. Sadly, these issues remain leading causes of collisions in Virginia. Many accidents could be prevented if drivers slowed down, stayed alert, and gave more space when merging. Until safer driving becomes the norm, victims of these crashes will continue to need support and legal guidance.
